Trip Testimony: Alec Hardy

Hey everyone!

Hope your first few days of March are going well (probably a bit warmer than expected, at least for us in Tennessee).

This week we have another trip testimony from Alec Hardy! Alec is a former baseball player at Union University who went to the Navajo nation with us last May. He is now an assistant coach for Mississippi Gulf Coast’s baseball team where he started his collegiate career.

All yours, Alec…

This past May, I had the opportunity to travel to the Navajo Nation in New Mexico with The Impact Collective. Before the trip, we had a conversation about light—specifically sources of light. We talked about different ways light is produced and how each of us reflects that in our own way.  The theme of light defined the entire experience. We didn’t just talk about light, we carried it with us. It showed up in every conversation, every sports drill, and in each moment we spent with the kids and their community.

One moment that stood out happened during sports camp. While we were playing with the kids, their school administrator sat off to the side, just watching. The joy on her face—seeing what our presence meant to those kids—made the whole trip worth it. What started as a simple act of sharing our love of sports became something bigger. Our light didn’t just reach the kids; it reached the people around them too.

We came to run a camp, spread joy, and share the good news. But in the end, the biggest impact may have been just being ourselves. And “ourselves” was something special. I was part of a group of college athletes on fire for the Lord. We began as acquaintances but left as a team—a family. We built a strong bond through shared purpose and unforgettable moments that I’ll carry with me forever.

This trip changed me. The people we met, the community we became a part of, and the memories we made together have all helped shape me into more of the person I want to be. For that, I’m incredibly thankful.

So exceedingly thankful for you, Alec! Your servant’s heart and diligence made our team all the stronger!

Be in prayer for our Union team that will be heading back out to the Navajo nation this coming May as we prepare them to lead and share the love of Christ with the amazing people out there.
